How To Treat and Heal Acne and Reduce Acne Scars

Long gone are the days of suffering with acne. Acne has been attributed to many things over the years, and despite your efforts, they all seem in vain.

Forget the home remedies, and old wives tales.

You DO NOT need to suffer any more. Adolescent or Adult Acne, we can give you back the confidence to hold your head up high.

Here’s the good news!

Years ago when lasers were suggested as a form of treatment for acne, the results were not as good as dermatologists wanted. In fact, some of the darker skinned people were experiencing excessive scarring due to the changes in pigmentation. This is not the case today.

When an acne patient faces pitting, or deep holes, in the skin as a result of acne, the treatment is called laser resurfacing.

So we make sure we have trained staff and expert advice to counsel you on your condition.

6 common
treatments for acne

Chemical Peels
A Glycolic Acid is smoothed onto the skin for a short period of time. This can assist in improving the appearance of cystic acne.

Filler injection
A thick liquid called Hyaluronic Acid is injected into the depression of the scar to lift it as flush as possible to the surrounding skin.

Microdermabrasion
This technique uses a diamond tip to exfoliate the dead skin on the surface. Often multiple treatments are required.  It can assist in treating superficial scars and dark spots, blemishes, blackheads and pore size.

Steroid Injection
A medical steroid is injected into the scar resulting in a softening of the scar.

Light Based Devices
These devices uses the science of wavelengths of light to effectively treat red and brown scarring.

Laser Skin Resurfacing
This is likely the best procedure to improve the appearance of atrophic scars such as ice-pick or boxcar types.   This laser uses high levels of energy to burn away scar tissue and stimulate production of collagen which will tighten the dermis, reducing the appearance of scarring.  A topical anaesthetic is applied to the skin an hour prior to the procedure to help with any discomfort.
